More Than Just a Dog Park. A Sensory Garden for Homeless Dogs Has Officially Opened

The sensory garden at the animal shelter in Świdnica is now complete.

This is the space we wrote about earlier, explaining why it is so important for dogs living in shelter conditions. Today we are no longer talking about plans. We are talking about the result.

Thanks to a grant from the Mushika Foundation and the project’s implementation by the Mam Pomysł Foundation, a dog park designed around dogs’ natural needs – sniffing, exploration, movement and calm – has been created.

More than just a dog park

This is not “just another yard.” It is a tool for working with emotions and stress. Different types of surfaces, elements for exploration, and space for free movement – all designed so that a dog can experience the world in a way that goes beyond the bars of a kennel.

Today the soil is still raw, but in a few weeks the space will turn green. Plants will begin to grow, scents will change, and the area will gain a new dimension. The sensory garden will start serving its full purpose, although it already brings the dogs plenty of joy.

A lasting change

This is an investment for years to come. Not a one-time action, but a real improvement in the quality of life for the shelter’s residents. Because helping animals is not only about rescue. It is also about creating conditions in which an animal can regain agency, balance and at least a small piece of normal life.
