Plant‑Based Parties – How to Make It Work?
The plant‑based shift is already happening. And not only on individual plates, but also at wedding receptions, picnics and corporate events. Every year, more people choose a plant‑based diet or reduce their meat consumption.
According to the Plant‑Based Food in Poland report by ProVeg Polska (2022), around 6% of Poles follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, and as many as 24% are flexitarians—people who limit meat consumption without eliminating it completely. That’s nearly one in three people in the country.
We can confidently say this is not a passing trend but a cultural shift. More and more people want to celebrate in a way that is not only delicious, but also ethical and environmentally friendly.
A Plant‑Based Grill? Why Not!
At our events—naturally—we choose plant‑based options.
During Education Day at the Ktosiowo Sanctuary, we organised a fully plant‑based barbecue. Plates were filled with lentil burgers, crispy potatoes and appetizers that disappeared in no time.
What else can be part of a vegan outdoor event? Here are some ideas to inspire you:
Snacks and Salads
- layered vegan “gyros” salad with soy cutlets
- potato salad with dill and pickles in a mustard‑mayo dressing (vegan mayo works wonders!)
- sandwiches with green‑lentil pâté and cranberries
- carrot and celery sticks with creamy hummus
Hot Dishes
- portobello mushrooms (or other large mushrooms) stuffed with vegan feta and green pesto
- skewers with marinated tofu, bell pepper, zucchini and onion
- chickpea, lentil or beet burgers (store‑bought options can be surprisingly good)
- BBQ‑marinated grilled cauliflower
- grilled vegetables such as zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms or asparagus (just drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and herbs)
A Plant‑Based Wedding
More and more couples are choosing plant‑based weddings—not only for ethical reasons, but also because vegan cuisine in Poland has reached a new level. It can be full‑fledged, refined fine dining that delights with flavour, presentation and creativity. A growing number of restaurants and catering companies offer fully plant‑based wedding menus, meeting the needs of couples who want to celebrate in line with their values without compromising on quality.
Kasia Wypychewicz, founder of the Mushika Foundation, and her partner wanted their wedding day to reflect their beliefs. They chose a plant‑based fusion reception: elegant and full of flavour. Vegan versions of traditional dishes appeared, such as oyster‑mushroom tripe or eggplant tartare. Guests were also invited on a journey through oriental flavours: tofu with compressed watermelon and ponzu sauce, lentils with shiitake mushrooms and coconut milk, and vegetable tagine. There was also a vegan wedding cake and a selection of desserts featuring jasmine, sesame, pistachio, chocolate and fruit.
It was delicious, creative and inspiring. The menu sparked positive emotions, and the shared meal became a culinary experience in itself.
A plant‑based wedding menu is a conscious choice that can be warmly received—and may even encourage guests to explore new flavour combinations and more ethical ways of celebrating.
Why Do We Choose Vegan Events?
1. For Health
More greens on the plate is a recipe for better health. Increasing the amount of vegetables and plant‑based protein has proven benefits. Vegans tend to have lower cholesterol, better cardiovascular markers and a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes. A study from the Medical University of Łódź (Nutrients, 2024) showed that vegetarians and vegans have lower inflammation levels than meat‑eaters. A plant‑based diet is also rich in fibre, antioxidants and vitamins—perfect for celebrating lightly, healthily and with energy.
2. For People and Animals
Avoiding animal products is a real expression of care for other living beings. It’s also a step toward a more empathetic and responsible culture of celebration—one that neither excludes nor harms.
3. For Food and Reducing Waste
Plant‑based dishes keep well—they can safely sit on a table for several hours without refrigeration. This makes it easier to avoid food waste, which is common after large events.
4. For the Planet
Meat production requires enormous amounts of water and energy and generates significant greenhouse‑gas emissions. Choosing a plant‑based menu reduces our environmental footprint. And that truly matters—even at the scale of a single event.
We also try to donate surplus food to community fridges or local initiatives supporting people in need. A simple action that feeds others instead of wasting resources.
Plant‑Based Events Are the Future
More and more people are looking for ways to make their gatherings—from family celebrations to corporate events—not only enjoyable but also responsible. Choosing plant‑based catering is an easy step in that direction.
Because you can celebrate, eat well and at the same time do something good for yourself, for animals and for the planet.
