Sign the Petition: Stop Glue Traps for Rodents!
Glue traps for rodents cause prolonged and extreme suffering to animals — not only to mice and rats. They also pose a serious threat to protected species. In many European countries and around the world, they have already been banned. It is time for Poland to follow.
Together with Stowarzyszenie Ochrony Zwierząt Ekostraż (Animal Protection Association Ekostraż), the Mushika Foundation calls for the introduction of a nationwide ban on the sale, production, distribution, and import of rodent glue traps in Poland. Sign the petition. Be the voice of harmed animals.
Stop Glue Traps for Rodents! Petition initiated by Stowarzyszenie Ochrony Zwierząt Ekostraż regarding a ban on the sale, production, import, and distribution of rodent glue traps within the territory of the Republic of Poland.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
We hereby submit a motion to introduce a ban on the sale, production, import, and distribution of rodent glue traps within the territory of the Republic of Poland.
In conformity with Article 6(1a) and Article 6(2) of the Polish Animal Protection Act of 21 August 1997, cruelty to animals is prohibited. Cruelty is defined as inflicting pain or suffering on animals, or knowingly allowing such pain or suffering to occur.
Glue traps cause prolonged suffering to animals caught in them. Trapped animals may die even after many days from exhaustion, dehydration, stress, and severe injuries. In desperate attempts to escape, animals often break their limbs or wings and tear off fragments of their own skin.
Although glue traps are marketed as devices intended to capture and kill rodents, they also trap other animals — including mammals (such as bats and hedgehogs), reptiles, amphibians, and birds. Many of these species are legally protected in Poland. As a result, the use of glue traps not only violates the Animal Protection Act but may also infringe provisions of the Nature Conservation Act. Their use constitutes a real and serious threat to legally protected wildlife.
There are humane and effective alternatives to glue traps, including live-capture traps, preventive measures (such as sealing buildings, removing food sources, and securing waste areas), and fertility control methods for rodent populations.
Glue traps are already banned in countries including Norway, the Netherlands, Germany, England, Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, and Wales.
In light of the above, we call for the immediate withdrawal of rodent glue traps from sale and for the introduction of a statutory ban on their sale, production, import, and distribution within the Republic of Poland.
