A Joint Year for Animals: What the Mushika Foundation and Ktosiowa’s Collaboration Looked Like in 2025

There are collaborations that genuinely change everyday life—for animals, people, and entire communities. Such is the partnership between Fundacja Ktoś, nie coś and Fundacja Mushika. In 2025, Fundacja Mushika supported Fundacja Ktoś, nie coś with a total of PLN 160,000, allocated for the animal sanctuary, providing aid, and organizing educational and community events.

This support not only allowed them to respond to the immediate needs of animals but, more importantly, strengthened the long-term capacity of the Ktosiowo Sanctuary and opened a new chapter in community education at the facility.

A Move That Changed Everything

At the end of 2024, on November 8, the Ktosiowo sanctuary moved to a new location in Musuły. With financial support from Fundacja Mushika, this complex logistical operation became possible. The animals now benefit from 27 hectares of land, providing them with better living conditions, increased safety, and space for educational and community activities.

For a small organization like Fundacja Ktoś, nie coś, this was a major challenge. The support from Fundacja Mushika stabilized the sanctuary, which by the end of 2025 became home to over 100 animals of various species—horses, goats, sheep, cows, llamas, pigs, dogs, cats, as well as wild animals like raccoons, foxes, and raccoon dogs. Ktosiowo combines care, intervention, and education in one cohesive model.

Education That Changes More Than One Life

Helping one animal is invaluable, but real change begins when knowledge and empathy become the foundation of social attitudes. Fundacja Mushika provided a modular educational room, permanently enhancing the sanctuary’s infrastructure.

The room is fully equipped with a projector, screen, TV, tables, chairs, kitchenette, and bathroom. This is a milestone for Ktosiowo—the educational room allows lessons, workshops, training sessions, meetings, and lectures to take place regardless of weather or season. It also serves as a space for rest and meals for school groups, volunteers, and training participants.

Thanks to Fundacja Mushika, new restrooms will also be installed at Ktosiowo, including one fully accessible for people with special needs. This is an important step toward making Ktosiowo an open and accessible place where everyone can feel safe and comfortable.

Knowledge for Those Who Truly Protect Animals

Fundacja Mushika initiated and co-organized with Fundacja Ktoś, nie coś the Education Day at Ktosiowo—an event combining knowledge, practice, and concrete action for animals.

During Education Day, in collaboration with the Lawyers for Animals Association, we conducted specialized training for police officers, municipal guards, and officials. The program also included a lesson at a nearby primary school on recognizing mistreatment of dogs, and a lecture at the sanctuary on legal aspects of horse care for high school students and volunteers from Fundacja Jesteśmy Blisko.

Participants also took part in hands-on activities to support the sanctuary and its residents. The day ended with a plant-based barbecue—a moment where knowledge met practice, and different communities came together for one goal: real animal protection.

2nd Charity Run “Ktoś pobiegnie”

We also co-organized the 2nd Charity Run “Ktoś pobiegnie” in the municipality of Żabia Wola. The event was not only a sporting activity but also a statement against animal cruelty. Thanks to a grant from Fundacja Mushika, it was possible to purchase awards, including medals and trophies, for participants. The run brought together those focused on competition and those who came to demonstrate their values, symbolizing support for animal rights.

Ktosiowo—A Place That Lives and Teaches

Ktosiowo is more than an animal sanctuary. It is a place of education, empathy, and community action, combining animal rescue with building a responsible and aware society. Collaboration with Fundacja Mushika has enabled not only more effective aid but also the planning of educational programs that truly fill gaps in systemic education about animal protection.

In the past year, Fundacja Ktoś, nie coś provided assistance to 31 animals, including 12 horses, 7 dogs, 3 cats, 2 goats, 1 pig, and 5 rats. New homes were found for 5 dogs, 3 cats, 1 goat, and 1 rat—the adoption of the rat Wyszomir was carried out jointly.

This is just the beginning. The new space, educational room, and expanded collaboration allow us to think long-term—about future programs, partnerships, and even greater impact on the lives of animals.
